Five students from the Department of Nuclear Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, have been staying at the IREM since May 2024 in an internship program. As part of the program, they visited Tomioka Town, Fukushima Prefecture, from July 16 to 18, 2024, to conduct radiation measurements at a private house located in the area where evacuation order is issued due to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident. They learned about the situation of radiation levels in the area and the difference between indoor and outdoor radiation levels. They also visited the Historical Archive Museum of Tomioka to deepen their understanding of the history of Tomioka Town and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident.
We would like to thank the Tomioka Town Office staff and a local resident for their generous cooperation in conducting this survey.
