A successful webinar plenary session was held on June 20th, 2023, at 16:00 JST to introduce “The Asian and Oceanic Radon Association (AORA)” organized by the Institute of Radiation Emergency Medicine at Hirosaki University. The event received an overwhelmingly positive response and generated a high level of engagement from participants. The webinar attracted a diverse audience consisting of approximately 70 attendees from 16 countries, primarily from Asia and Europe. The participants comprised students, early-career professionals, lecturer-researchers, and professors, all of whom expressed keen interest in the subject matter. The main objective of the webinar was to establish a regional association that would facilitate collaboration among practitioners in the Asian and Oceanic regions, focusing on radon-related issues. The formation of AORA is aimed at leveraging the collective expertise and support of regional professionals to address challenges associated with radon and its potential health effects. It is noteworthy that the first founding president of AORA is Prof. Dr Shinji Tokonami, a highly respected authority in the field.
A call for nominations was made to invite members to join the first executive committee of AORA.This initiative aims to form a dedicated committee comprising individuals who are passionate about radon research and its impact on public health. Nominations from qualified professionals across the Asian and Oceanic regions will be solicited to ensure diverse representation and expertise within the committee.
