On September 19, 2025, Stanford University (USA) and Elsevier published the updated comprehensive list of the World’s top 2% of scientists, based on standardized citation indicators. Professor Shinji Tokonami, Director of the Institute of Radiation Emergency Medicine, was ranked in both the “Single-Year” (2024) and “Career-Long” categories.

This database is compiled using standardized information on citation counts, h-index, co-authorship-adjusted indices, citations across different authorship positions, and a composite indicator. It is based on the Scopus citation database and covers all scientists who have authored at least five papers across 22 scientific fields and 174 subfields, with rankings provided within each subfield.
